Ok - “detail or variant” for #meetthemakerweek! In my free guide linked in profile there’s one detail that people regularly comment in reviews. “The cookie sheet idea! It’s genius!” If you’re making flowers I recommend a cookie sheet to organize your projects. It’s a simple detail of a creative space that makes a big difference with the little paper bits. Enjoy 😊 . . . #process #florabeane #paperflowers #details #tipsandtricks #crepepaperflowers #paperpoppy #dsfloral

Ok, a little #realitycheck. 💐My house is a mess usually because my brain is really focused on a few singular tasks on the daily. My go-to method is to put the kid in the tub and clean after supper and pretend it was like that all day 😂 We were given a dryer from a friend that lasted well over a decade just here at this house and it finally went, leading to air drying all winter and using hangers. Well this pretty much removed the clothes clutter in my home, baskets don’t work for my brain any more, took the appliance serving us ‘til her last to make me realize this eco-convenience. 😇The kid is artistic and our walls are covered in markers. She colors her toys. She colors herself. It feels pretty cool to bear witness to her forms of expression. It doesn’t bother me, we need to paint eventually anyway. ✨Life feels fleeting yet February days do have a certain languid quality of lingering light. 🌬My cat has gained ten pounds this winter. 🥬 Am I focusing on the right things? Trying. Trying. 😳Possible fifteen inches of snow tomorrow, probably will be a seed ordering day because that always cheers me. #colortherapy #whofeelsme #papersculpture

Small slotted shelf example-I use this in so many ways, from hanging stems to dry, to weaving stems in the slats to dry, to recording videos, and much more.

I made this short clip for my patrons this summer!! I’m so excited because I have studio time today! First on the agenda are patron rewards: thirty minute video calls for my peony and dahlia level patrons (think: “flower friend, ask me anything”). And then I’m going to dive in to my September commission. I hope you enjoy this tip - all of my summer sculptures were built this way and then bonded to steel pin frogs! . . . #teachmepaperflowers #florabeane #learningisbestshared #technique #floralarrangement #papersculpture #dsfloral #imsomartha #tuesdaytip #paperflowers #mainestudio #marble #foundobjects #cobalt #maineartist #bts

Here are two pieces of marble found at an antique store, purchased very inexpensively "as-is". They are my favorite backdrops.

Sneak peek and I'm so thankful to have my studio back 😍

The set-up for photos is simple and effective. Shown are two pieces of wood for backdrop (I found the wood in the ditch and dragged it home), a small foldable craft table set up for the shot, a north-facing window and my camera on tripod. All easily stored when done.

Best kinda mess

Another view of the shifting studio set up, easily taken down when needed (the baby did eventually sleep in this room).
